I finally realized that friendship is not a remedy for loneliness. Loneliness is a part of our experience and if we are looking for relief from loneliness in friendship, we are only going to frustrate the friendship. Friendship, camaraderie, intimacy, all those things, and loneliness live together in the same experience...
Although I am married, I was single for 36 years... In many ways, the heartache through singleness has left deep scars. I've had enough of Satan's lies. I've had enough of of the bruises and the walls that the lies have given me. If you're reading this, most likely you're single right now... and I'm tired of the lies Satan is speaking to you. My heart is breaking for you. I'm going to jump out on a limb... and speak the Truth... are you coming with me?

Hi :) I went looking for that quote of Rich's, wanted to get it right. Your blog looks really interesting, i'll have to check back. Are you a fan of Rich or just like the quote? He always seemed to say the opposite of what the majority thought - something i admired greatly. I'm still not sure about the quote though - i think i get that he's saying "If you want another person to meet all of your needs? THat's just going to be a mess". But if friendhip doesn't help us be less lonely, what in the world does? Interesting to think about.
ReplyDeleteI really miss Rich and am thankful his scripturally based lyrics have been kept for posterity. If only more "christian" artist had his approach. Preach the truth first before profit.
